Are eucalyptus branches and leaves toxic for my lovebird to use?

Pine is fine. There are no reports of this being toxic and pinecones are often used for enrichment for captive birds. I would not worry at all about making the pine furniture. I hope that helps and all is well with Pepsi.

Finches and budgies can eat a commercially available seed or pelleted diet (found in most pet stores or on the internet). They can have occasional treats of fruits and vegetables, but I would avoid any medicine plants or herbs. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Eucalyptus can cause gastrointestinal signs like vomiting and diarrhea if large amounts are ingested. The oil tends to be more toxic. You could hang the eucalyptus where your cats don't have access, but if you think they'll still try to eat it you may want to avoid it.

Thanks for reaching out about your gerbil. There are definitely some leaves that could be toxic, but not many household vegetables are toxic. You should avoid any plants from the onion family (onions, leeks, etc.). If using outdoor plants, leaves from apple or fruit with pits (apricot, peach) can contain some cyanide and be toxic. If you can't identify a plant, research it before feeding. Good luck.

You don't mention what type of bird you have, I am going to assume a parrot? In birds it is best to avoid chocolate, caffeine, avocado, onion and garlic, comfrey, apple seeds, pits/stones from fruits, sugar free foods containing xylitol (this can cause issue in dogs and we don't know for sure about birds), foods high in fat or salt, mushrooms, dairy, grit, peanuts that have become moldy, and the plant portion of members of the nightshade family (i.e. tomato, potato, peppers, eggplant- the fruits aren't toxic but the leaves/plant parts are). Wow, this is a really difficult question to answer. Could you please repost your question with a photo of the plant/stem? There is no way for me to help you without that and even with that I am not sure I will know what it is. Try to do some research on your own to see what the name of the plant is and then search Google as to whether or not it is known to be toxic to birds. Your other option is to take Chita and the plant to your local AVIAN vet and have them examine it for you. Wish I could be more help but without knowing what the plant is or seeing it myself I cannot possibly tell you if it is toxic or not. I hope this was helpful in some way. I do not recommend the use of essential oils in the presence (ie the same room) of parakeets or any other birds. There are some oils that are toxic (such as tea tree oil) and others that may not be, however toxicity often depends on the concentration of the oil and while an oil may not causing toxic signs in one bird, it may in another more sensitive bird. There is no way to know other than trying it out, and , honestly, I would not risk my bird's health just to find out which oil does not harm him and which one does. If you use essential oils outside of Garcia's room, there should not be a problem.
