Can finches and budgies safely eat green chiretta leaves and fruit?

It is not necessary to provide fruit and veggies daily as these are considered enrichment, and not necessary for nutritional requirements. Bengal gram is also known as chickpea or garbanzo beans. This legume is safe to feed, however I can find no reference regarding the leaves. In certain cases, the leave or stems of a plant can be toxic while the "fruit" is not. For this reason, as well as not finding a concrete reference either way, I would not recommend feeding the leaves to Coco.

Lettuce can cause some digestive upset in birds and runny stool. I would recommend feeding fresh fruits and other veggies (like zucchini, carrots, and peppers) instead. There is also an increased risk of E. coli In bagged lettuce products right now so I would stay away from those as well. I hope this helps. It could be that Tweety just isn't used to apple yet. I would keep offering it to see if she starts to like it. Other veggies such as salad greens, strawberries, broccoli, etc may be fun for her to try out. Remove any uneaten food daily to avoid spoiling.

Both can eat dark, leafy greens. Vegetables such as squash, peppers, peas, carrots and corn can also be offered. Cooked is fine, raw is healthier. Fruits should be offered sparingly to both species to prevent loose droppings. Apples, pears, banana, mango, grapes and peaches are all acceptable. Be sure to remove pits or seeds.

Fruits, vegetables and greens should account for approximately 20 - 25% of the daily diet. Pale vegetables, with a high water composition (i.e. Iceberg or Head lettuce, celery) offer very little nutritional value. Avocado is reported to be potentially toxic.
