Is pine wood safe for making bird perches and cage accessories?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | neutered | 8 months and 3 days old

I'm planning on making perches for my budgies, but I don't know if pine is okay. I have found a lot of different answers online, but none actually answer my question. Is pine okay to make bird furniture out of?

Pine is fine. There are no reports of this being toxic and pinecones are often used for enrichment for captive birds. I would not worry at all about making the pine furniture.

I hope that helps and all is well with Pepsi.
