Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm sorry to hear that Cutie has a wound on her stomach. It is difficult to tell from the pictures if this is truly a wound; I cannot see close enough. If you believe that she may have a wound or damage to her skin, I recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian to see if she requires surgical repair of the wound and/or pain medication and antibiotics to prevent infection. If she is otherwise acting normally (eating, drinking and passing normal feces and urates) you may be able to monitor the area for any changes or worsening appearance. I hope this is helpful!

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Most likely Pixie will need a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents to fully recover. Please, make sure she is not licking or scratching the area as by doing that she will likely make things worse.

This could be a wound or an infection. I would recommend cleaning this using a solution of diluted betadine and water (mix until a light brown color) and monitor for signs of worsening. If the area does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

This appears to be a wound but I am unsure as to where on the body it is located since the photo is zoomed in. Based on its appearance, I would recommend getting Charlie in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. The longer this goes unseen, the more risk there is for infection. I would recommend having this evaluated and potentially putting Charlie on antibiotics and pain medications to help treat this. My old chihuahua has a belly sore. When should I worry about it?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Luna and for providing a picture, it's very helpful! It looks like this sore is scabbed over, which means it's healing. In the picture, it looks a bit pink around the area, but I don't see any signs of infection. At this point in time, I recommend just observing it for now. I don't think it requires a vet visit. Keep an eye on her when she goes outside to potty, and check the area daily. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus then it's infected and she needs to see the vet. I hope this helps!
