My dog has a red spot on his stomach. What could it be and what to do?

It may be an allergy to something specific in the environment or something else like fleas or food. This may go away on its own if it is something minor. I would recommend Oscar be seen by his veterinarian to have this evaluated further. He may need topical or oral antibiotics or other medications as needed. I hope this helps!

This could be a wound or an infection. I would recommend cleaning this using a solution of diluted betadine and water (mix until a light brown color) and monitor for signs of worsening. If the area does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

However, these can turn into malignant cancerous tumors if not addressed early enough. I recommend having these removed before they turn into cancerous tumors. These superficial skin tumors are typically removed using electrocautery. Removal is typically simple and requires no major aftercare for healing. I hope this helps! It is difficult to tell from the pictures if this is truly a wound; I cannot see close enough. If you believe that she may have a wound or damage to her skin, I recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian to see if she requires surgical repair of the wound and/or pain medication and antibiotics to prevent infection. If she is otherwise acting normally (eating, drinking and passing normal feces and urates) you may be able to monitor the area for any changes or worsening appearance. I hope this is helpful!

It is concerning that the sore is so red, as this may be a sign of an infection or a tumor. I recommend having Ashton looked at by a vet soon, especially if the area is bothering Ashton, or bleeding/having discharge. A skin lesion like you are describing can have multiple causes, such as a tick (or other insect) bite, or a fungal or bacterial infection, among others. If it does not resolve in 24-48 hours, spreads, worsens, she starts acting ill or you are worried, I would have it checked by your regular veterinarian to see what may be going on, and if any treatment is needed.
