A gravel vacuum is an essential tool to maintain a healthy environment for your aquatic life. A gravel vacuum helps during the water changing process by removing excess debris and waste material from the substrate without disturbing the décor—helping to keep the water levels stable—and reduce stress to your fish. It is ideal to use a gravel vacuum and change 10- to 25-percent of your aquarium’s water every two to four weeks.
Cleaning your aquarium gravel can be as simple as using a gravel vacuum tool to remove the waste and debris.
Using a gravel vacuum, it will create suction through a large tube then running down a smaller flexible tube into a bucket. The larger plastic tube will disturb the substrate with an up and down motion as you vacuum, loosening the dirt and debris.
Use a gravel vacuum and change out 10- to 25- percent of the water once every two to four weeks.

So I've been thinking about getting an axolotl, but I'm a bit confused as I've never had any type of aquarium. My question is: I've been told to get an Aquaclear 50 HBO filter (plus a sponge one for extra bio media), and to slow the flow by placing plants and things under it. But this specific model's slowest flow is 250 l/h, which might be too little for a 90l tank. But if I set it up to 370 or so (which I find would be the best), the flow might be too strong for the axie! Any solutions? <3
