Worms, including hookworms, tapeworms and roundworms, can silently disrupt your dog or puppy’s digestive system. Symptoms may include, but are not limited to: vomiting, diarrhea, scooting on their behind and a change in appetite. If you suspect your dog or puppy has worms, consult your veterinarian. They can prescribe a treatment plan. This treatment plan can include a deworming prescription medication or a recommended over-the-counter product. Dewormers can be found in chewable, tablet and liquid forms.
The best selling dog dewormer brands are:
Since deworming needs vary for each dog, consult your veterinarian about your dog’s lifestyle and their individual needs. Typically for puppies, dewormers should be administered every two weeks, up to 2 months of age, monthly until 6 months of age, and quarterly thereafter, while adult dogs can be given dewormers every 3 months for best protection.
Common dog and puppy dewormers come in liquid, tablets and chewables, both over the counter and with a prescription. Consult your veterinarian regarding the best deworming treatment plan for your dog or puppy.
This varies depending on the type of parasite and your dog’s age, weight and lifestyle. Consult your veterinarian on the diagnosis and the best dewormer treatment plan.
Depending on the type of medication, after administering the dog or puppy dewormer, the worms will either be paralyzed or dissolve within the intestinal tract. If the worms are paralyzed, you’ll likely notice them in your dog’s stool or vomit. Consult your veterinarian and follow the instructions on the medication on dosage and if any follow-up exams will be necessary.
Follow the instructions provided with the medication since each dog dewormer medication works differently. Depending on the specific dog dewormer they can be fed before, during or after meals.
Commonly, dog dewormers are provided around mealtime. Follow the instructions provided with the dog dewormer medication and consult your veterinarian for specific instructions.

Are there worms in my dogs poop?
My mother bought a box of the safe-guard canine dewormer that comes in 3 2-gram pouches. Our puppies are chihuahua/pom mixes, one 7 weeks old, the other turns 6 weeks on Friday. But the dosage says 10 pounds/1 pouch. Both puppies are barely a pound, so how much would we give them per dose?
My dog had a dead tapeworm in her poo on Saturday Soon as I seen it I gived her a wormer How long will it take for the wormer to work and get rid of these worms (if there is more inside her) I've not seen any more come out since just white specs in her poo but been advice by vet to give her another wormer in 3 weeks time
My dog wont eat after i gave him worm medicine what should i do?
my puppy (5 months) is not eating anything from pas 3 days...today i saw that there were worms in my puppy's poop...moreover if she eats something she vomits after some time...some doctors say we should not give her deworming medicines if she is not eating...what can we do?
I have spotted small white worms less than an inch long coming from my cat's anus. Which worm is this and are tablets enough to get rid of them?
How long does it take/last for Sentinel Spectrum to kill off worms? It has 57 mg of praziquantel, 5.75 mg of Milbemycin Oxime, and 115 mg of Lufenuron.
We just had his initial appointment with the vet for his shots and a general health check up he is completely healthy but they wanted to give him some preventative medications for fleas and ticks and also for heartworms tapeworms and hookworms. He gave me sentinel spectrum for all the worms and he gave me nexgard for the fleas and ticks but they both say they treat for fleas. Should I be giving him both of these medications or is it as unnecessary as I think? I don’t want to give him so many.
