Found a wild baby mouse. It's wobbly and eating cheese. Is it okay?

Hi, the best thing would be to contact a local wildlife rehabilitation center. They can provide any nutritional support and treatments needed and release the mouth, if possible. Wildlife rehabilitators in your state should be listed online as they must be licensed. Good luck!

If your mouse is very lethargic and feels hot to the touch or feverish, it'd be best to seek vet care ASAP. it is possible there is an underlying illness or infection present, which should be examined and treated as needed by a vet in person. Keeping the mouse warm and hydrated as much as possible may help, but if it is already this ill, care is needed.

While it is unclear what is going on this may be a metabolic imbalance such as decreased blood sugar or perhaps a gastrointestinal issue or infection. Regardless, this is considered an emergency and Wally should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Unfortunately, there are many different diseases that outdoor rats can have - some that are zoonotic (this means transmissable to humans and other animals, so be sure to wash well after handling him) - and without a complete workup by a vet, it's not likely that he's going to survive the next couple of days. Even if you do bring him to the vet, there might not be much that can be done for him at this point. He is thin, he has a hunched body posture (an indicator of pain and severe stress), and his sunken, squinted eyes indicate dehydration. The respiratory symptoms you mentioned are very common in wild rat species, and are usually fatal. I highly suggest that you contact a veterinarian and consider humane euthanasia for this guy. You could also try to call a wildlife rehabber, but only if you can get in touch with one that will take the rat immediately. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like you've done everything you can at home. If you can't get him to the vet right away, keep him warm and quiet. Yes, unfortunately she looks very ill and she may be dying. There is not really anything you can do except take her to a vet. If you can't do that all you can do is keep her calm and quiet and if she is not drinking you can syringe some water into her mouth every few hours. Be sure she is warm. You can give her one drop of Children's Paracetamol liquid if you can find it. You can give that every 8 hours.

I'm sorry to hear this, but it is easily done. I think it sounds like no damage has been done considering the mouse is running about and eating. If you really want to you could take the mouse to a vet for an exam just to ensure all is okay.
