My mouse shakes, loses balance, and has trouble eating. What's wrong?

A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan, even if just palliative. Offering water via a syringe could help combat dehydrate, and likewise, softened/wetted food could give calories. This sounds like a respiratory problem, whether infectious (bacterial, viral), metabolic or heart problems, needs to be determined. Good luck.

If she will allow, check her teeth to see if they are overgrown or maloccluded. Either may result in a decrease or loss of appetite. Soak her pellets in warm water or a bit of fruit juice to stimulate her appetite and make eating easier. If she still does not eat or continues her aberrant behavior, have her physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose illness or injury.

If your mouse is very lethargic and feels hot to the touch or feverish, it'd be best to seek vet care ASAP. it is possible there is an underlying illness or infection present, which should be examined and treated as needed by a vet in person. Keeping the mouse warm and hydrated as much as possible may help, but if it is already this ill, care is needed.

With a decrease in appetite and his hiding behaviors that suggests that he doesn’t feel well. These, paired with his age, would make me concerned that something serious is going on. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for evaluation. They can prescribe medications if it is a respiratory problem, or they can make other recommendations if it isn’t. Please don’t give him any human medications, as many medications can be harmful to mice.

While it is unclear what is going on this may be a metabolic imbalance such as decreased blood sugar or perhaps a gastrointestinal issue or infection. Regardless, this is considered an emergency and Wally should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. So sorry that Mittens is having this problem. It sounds like he could be in pain so he should be examined by a vet determine the cause. He could have back pain, abdominal pain, an infection, etc. Your vet can do a physical examination to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat, depending on the cause. It sounds like sonic may be having seizures. There are a number of reasons this could be occurring including metabolic diseases and cranial diseases amongst others. You need to get Onix to a veterinarian right away. They will be able to perform testing to help determine what is going on and recommend appropriate treatment.
