Is 5 pounds too much for my 8-month-old small breed rabbit?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 16 days old

How many pounds should she be? I weighed her on a human one (the whole, I weigh myself then subtract what I weigh from the number I get with you) she was 5 pounds... good weight? Bad weight? My other rabbit is also 5.

This small breed rabbit should weigh between 2.5lbs and 3.5lbs. Review the diet and limit commercial pellets to no more than 1/8 cup daily. Feed as much timothy hay and similar grasses as she will eat. Avoid alfalfa if she is older than 6-7 months. Increase activity if possible.
