Why does my pet have a clear runny nose and sneeze after play?

If Hercules is otherwise normal and eating / drinking normal amounts, I would just monitor him for now. I would make sure he is not being exercised too hard. A mix of exercise and allergies can make these signs evident. I would recommend decreasing his exercise time or interrupted play time with breaks. If the runny nose continues or breathing worsens or does not improve, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Causes of sneezing can include upper respiratory infection, inflammation of the nasal passages (rhinitis), irritants in the environment such as dust or cleaners, foreign material in the nose, such as a piece of grass or dirt, or even cancer. If the sneezing is happening multiple times a day, I recommend having Nonnie evaluated by your veterinarian at their next available appointment. I recommend to have Jasper examined by the veterinarian. Repeated sneezing means irritation and this can be uncomfortable (think about when you get a cold). The doctor can provide medication that can help with inflammation. While infections are the most common cause, a piece of grass or other object stuck in the nose, a fungal infection or a tumor in the sinus can also cause a runny nose and sneezing. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oreo. While seasonal allergies can cause sneezing, a respiratory tract infection is more likely in my experience. I am glad that she is acting normal otherwise. If her sneezing persists though, she will need to see her veterinarian. She may require an antibiotic. It could be an upper respiratory tract infection, allergies, something stuck in the nasal cavity, among a few other things. If Dior is otherwise normal, I would continue to monitor him at home for signs of illness, such as lethargy, rectal temperature over 103, coughing, decreased appetite, etc. If these occur, then he should definitely get checked out by a vet.

If the discharge from the nose is clear and it's only occurring during walks it's probably more related to a mild allergy or exposure to cooler air. As long as it's only happening rarely and the discharge is clear I wouldn't be concerned. If the discharge become frequent, becomes yellow/green or mucousy, or Ziggy develops any other signs of illness like coughing or sneezing I would have him evaluated by your veterinarian.

Sneezing is common in cats and can be a sign of mild allergies. I wouldn't be too terribly concerned, unless you start seeing nasal discharge, decreased appetite, or wheezing. Let it run its course and if things don't improve or seem to worsen after about 3-4 days, then you should get Dale seen by your vet for some allergy medication and other treatments (i.e. antibiotics) if needed.
