My indoor rabbit is pregnant! How did she get pregnant if males are fixed?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 13 days old | 3 lbs

We noticed over the month that Honeys stomach is getting bigger, we don't over feed her at all. So we took her to the vet and they said she's pregnant! We don't know how since all of our male rabbits are spayed and she doesn't got outside. We had to take her out of the fair for showing because they don't allow pregnant animals. Please help we don't know how she got pregnant, if it's possible do you think we could bring her to the vet to get rid of the babies? Again please help!!!

So male rabbits cannot be spayed, they can be castrated. Are you 100% that they are all done, and that you dont have a female who is actually a male? One of these must be the case.
You could ask the vet to spay her whilst pregnant, it is more risky though. You could just wait until the rabbits are born and have them euthanized.

While it is possible that Binky is pregnant, it is unlikely if she was not receptive to the male. However, she may be receptive soon, so I do recommend separating them to avoid unwanted pregnancy. You can neuter (castrate) the male at any time as well as the female. I hope this helps!

Why did my rabbit's newborn kits die shortly after birth again?

It sounds like she is not cut out to be a mom. These non-vialbe pups may be due to a chronic viral infection or an inherent problem with her uterus. Regardless, I suggest you either keep her from getting pregnant again by not housing her with any males or have her spayed. That is the only way to keep this from happening again.

Can my female rabbit take a birth control pill or shot safely?

Instead of giving birth control which can cause uterine problems and possibly even cancer in the doe, it would be much better to have the male rabbit castrated. Male rabbits also tend to get aggressive and pee at people, and castration can make this behavior stop. You can also have your doe spayed. Either way you will not have any unwanted pregnancies this way.

They are quite cute! The best way to determine pregnancy in a rabbit is via a physical exam. Other symptoms include weight gain, nesting, fur pulling or aggressive behavior. Gestation is short, about 4 weeks. They can mate as soon as a few days after kindling (giving birth), so it would be recommended to separate them until you can determine genders and pregnancy status. My rabbit doe won't mate or get pregnant. What are her belly lumps?

Thanks for reaching out about Donya. Some does might not reach sexual maturity until 6 months of age. But there could also be something wrong with either the male or the female resulting in infertility of either. Just because the male breeds, does not mean he is fertile. Determination at this point would require a veterinary visit and likely diagnostic testing. The palpable masses in the abdomen could be babies but also fecal material. Good luck.
