My rabbit has eye discharge and black spots on his penis. Is this normal?

Thanks for reaching out about Fluffy and including a photo. Ocular secretions can become thicker and not drain through the lacrimal duct, when certain conditions arise. This could be an infection, dental disease (affecting drainage), stress and other problems. Continue to wipe the eye area with a moistened clear wash cloth. If worsens, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Remember, having your rabbit spayed is very important as rabbits have a high incidence of uterine neoplasia. Good luck.

The photo is blurry but that looks like diarrhea/soft stool stuck on her fur. I suggest you take Cocaine to your vet for an exam. She likely needs treatment for this. It looks pretty significant. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

IT looks like Hero might have an eye infection but most likely has an issue with his teeth. Rabbits are very prone to dental disease and overgrowth of their molars. When the molars over grow it puts pressure of the tear duct and white discharge will form. It is best for hero to see a vet for a good exam of the mouth and eye to determine the cause and start providing proper treatment! hope that helps and thanks for using pet coach

Poor Snowy! These symptoms are very concerning as they can be caused by several dangerous viral infections. I recommend separating him from any other rabbits he lives with to prevent transmitting the disease. He should be seen by a vet as soon as possible to determine what is going on as this may also be caused by a bacterial infection or fur mites. Your vet will be able to perform a physical exam and provide supportive care if needed.

Hello. Sorry Riley is having this issue. A vet visit is always recommended as we cannot diagnose conditions over the internet. You know him best so if you think he isn't in pain and it's not bothering him at this stage you can always elect to just monitor him. Clear ocular discharge is not very worrisome. I would be more worried if the discharge was green or yellow or if his eye was matted shut or he was squinting the eye. The cataract can shift causing some issues but I doubt that is the case. Regarding possible mucus from the rectum, often associated with dietary inflammation, so limit vegetables and other treats. If mucoid stool continues, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess as intestinal parasites or infections, possible. Good luck.

What a cute bunny! From the photo the area on the skin looks as though it has healed- if there is a defect in the skin itself then an exam by the vet is recommended as he may need antibiotics. I cannot see any redness to his eyes in this photo, so I am not sure if you mean that his eye color is red or if he has red eye lids or the white of his eyes look red. If he is rubbing at his eyes/blinking alot, has excess tears or a green or yellow discharge from the eyes these would be cause for a vet exam as well. If he is not acting lethargic and is eating/drinking I would monitor the urine for a few days- if he becomes lethargic/is straining to pee/stops eating or drinking or the urine continues to look red then an exam is recommended.
