My hamster's tooth fell out. Is a vet visit necessary for this?

It is a little difficult to judge based on this picture but if you can see the teeth when the mouth is closed then yes, he will need to have them trimmed. All hamster’s have continuously growing incisors that need to be worn down frequently. If the bite is off then the teeth will no wear properly and they will need to be trimmed. I would recommend having the teeth trimmed by your veterinarian because it can be a little tricky.

The tooth should regrowth soon enough, it usually takes up to 1 month the upper tooth on the same side will probably need to be cut a little to prevent it from growing too much and stop the growth of the lower tooth.

The cost of seeing a vet for this procedure will very by area and clinics within your area, and I would call around to get a quote. I am so sorry to hear about Bambi! That sounds so painful! I would continue to call around to local vets and ask if anyone can see her. Explain that you are desperate for help and she is in pain. Perhaps someone will be willing to take a chance or knows a vet who sees exotic animals. The tooth needs to be removed and likely antibiotics given, and she may need regular tooth trimmings. It is a risk if she needs anesthesia to remove the tooth, but unfortunately it sounds like she is in pain and cannot eat well so she is suffering and this either needs to be treated or she needs to be humanely euthanized.
