My hamster has a tusk-like tooth. What should I do? Vet cost?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male

My hamster has developed a tooth coming out of his face to the side of his nose almost like a tusk. He seems to still be eating and drinking and his behavior hasn't seemed to change either. What should I do to help him and if he needs a vet about how much would it cost?

Yes, I would definitely take Rico into the vet as this tooth will likely need to be removed. The cost of seeing a vet for this procedure will very by area and clinics within your area, and I would call around to get a quote. As a guess, I would think it could cost from between $100 to a couple of hundred to get this done, but that depends on exactly what the vet needs to do to treat Rico. I hope this helps!
