My hamster fell. Her ribs are sticking out. Does she need a vet?

my hamster fell off my dresser and her rib cage moved upwards and it was sticking out on the sides of her body, not sticking out of the skin though. Will this heal by its self or need medical care? I saw online it said hamsters breaking bones is very common since they are a rodent. It is the next day since this happened and it seems to have have stopped sticking out as much but i can still feel it near her head.

This definitely needs to be checked out by a vet. This isn't normal, and she is likely in pain from the fall. There are no OTC pain medications you can give, and leaving her in pain would be cruel to her. Please take her into a vet immediately.

Luckily, they usually are not much worse for the wear, as long as they don't hit anything on the way down. If Rosie is walking around and acting normally (eating and drinking, not limping or squeaking), she's probably fine. If anything changes, a vet visit is in order. My hamster broke her leg. Can I give her pain meds before the vet?

Unfortunately nothing, there are no safe OTC pain medications for hamsters. A broken leg is a medical emergency and you should take Wynter into a vet immediately. Please do not wait to do it, as it would cause her suffering, take her to an ER vet now. Best of luck.

Oh no, poor Hamlet! It sounds like he was seriously injured with his fall, and I'd be concerned he could have broken his leg or hips, or done serious injury to his spine. I would have him seen by a vet immediately to diagnose what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated.

My hamster stuck for days, can't walk, eyes closed. What should I do?

She may be painful and dehydrated and undernourished. An immediate check up at your local vet is required to have a better clinical picture and treat appropriately. Pain relief meds and eventually antibiotics (if there is any sign of infection) are possibly required. Hopefully he will be fine. However, limping could indicate a leg injury. Lethargy and decreased appetite could indicate internal damage/ or bleeding. My dwarf hamster fell. Why are his back legs curled and not moving?

Poor chip. It is hard to say what is causing the abnormal activity with out examining him. I would recommend taking him to a vet for a good exam to determine if he has a fracture or soft tissue injury. The vet can provide pain control which will keep him more comfortable. hope that helps
