My guinea pig ate a cupcake liner. Is she okay? What should I do?

Given the small amount she ate, I would suspect this would pass without problem, but because she has some mild megacolon I would keep a close eye on her. Depending on the size of the piece, it could cause an intestinal obstruction. If it was a small piece than it will probably pass through with no problems. Monitor for any abnormal signs and have a vet take a look at her if you notice anything concerning, like lethargy, decreased appetite, or gastrointestinal signs.

If it was paper, it should indeed pass on it's own. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. Have her examined by your veterinarian if any of these symptoms develop. Unfortunately, we can't tell you what to do, but neither option would be "wrong".

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. If Aubie is eating, drinking and energy level is good, then most likely the wrapper is not causing any problems. I would add canned pumpkin to her food (1/2 can in morning and at night) to see if that helps her defecate. If she is still not producing feces, is in pain when attempting to defecate or begins vomiting or show other symptoms, I would have your vet take a look at her. No need to worry! Licking the wrapper won't be enough chocolate to cause Hazel any problems. Even eating a bit of the wrapper is not a worry. This should dissolve in her stomach acid and pass without issue. You don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!

This is small enough that it has a good chance of passing with any major concerns. Keep an eye on Cheeky for any signs of trouble which includes: excessive vomiting, little to no appetite, little to no stool +/- lethargy. I would then feed her some canned food to help bind the wrapper and hopefully help it pass along. Monitor the stools daily until it is found. If you happen to see any symptoms develop, then a trip to your vet is warranted. I do hope that Cheeky does well and has no issues with this wrapper ingestion. You need to monitor her for the next few hours. She probably will be fine but make sure she does not become lethargic, bloated or starts producing loose stools. If you see any of these symptoms, you should get in touch with your local vets.
