Ferret burned paws on stove with blisters. What home care can I do?

Burns are generally very painful. When they occur on the feet, sometimes we can make them comfortable with bandaging, but it sounds like Wyatt may need some pain medication. I often find that I need to give my burn patients antibiotoics as well, so I would have your veterinarian examine Wyatt's feet to determine if they are looking infected or painful and decide on medication for him. Poor Fuzzy! I'm glad that you found him! I recommend having him seen by a vet in case the wounds are infected or painful - your vet will be able to prescribe antibiotics and pain medication. In the meantime, you can apply SSD (silver sulfadiazene) ointment several times per day to the areas. You should also use soft, non-scratchy bedding until the wounds heal to prevent further trauma. As the areas heal, Fuzzy may lick them, so you may want to get him an E-collar or cone to prevent further trauma. I hope this helps and that Fuzzy feels better soon!

This is a bad burn, but doesn't look too bad and should heal well with treatment over the next couple of weeks. The best thing you can do is flush the wound using a syringe or other dispensing device with cool water for five minutes. This may not be easy, because cats tend to hate water on their paws. I recommend having someone help you with this and wrapping Zorro in a towel to make sure the wound gets flushed well. Silver sulfadizine is the best for burns and you may be able to get this at the pharmacy. In order to keep the wound clean, it's best to flush the wound 1-2 times a day and gently wipe away any big crusts - make sure not to scrub the wound, because this can make it worse. Apply the antibacterial cream after each flushing. After that, it's best to bandage the paw, or he may lick the cream, which can be bad for him. Bandaging will also help the wound heal faster. There are some helpful videos on YouTube to help you do this well. You can help keep the bandage on by placing a good (really sticky) tape above and below the bandage. It is good at the stripping the fur and will hopefully strip any remaining wax off of him. You do not want him to ingest the wax. If he becomes lethargic or refuses to eat or drink, he will need to see his veterinarian. Good luck!

Ouch! Running cold water on it was smart. Ideally, he should be seen by your vet since the burn looks like it goes through the pad. This could lead to infection. If this is not possible now, keep the area clean and dry. Use an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent licking. A dab of aloe vera gel can be applied a few times daily. Keep the e-collar on so he doesn't ingest the aloe vera. You may want to use shredded paper towels in the litterbox until the paw heals. Monitor for lameness, lethargy, swelling, discharge or odor. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

Do Not put peroxude, it will make it worse. silver sulfadiazine cream is the best option, if you can bandage it, it would be best. if you can't find this cream you can use neosporin instead but it is less effective for burns.

I am so sorry for the delay in answering your question. The best thing you can do for a wound at home is to keep it clean. Clean the cage out completely. Make sure there is soft, clean bedding in the cage at all times, which means you need to replace the bedding material daily while the sore is present. Most pharmacies will have Betadine. Get some water and add a few drops of butadiene so that it looks like tea. Then submerge the affected foot into the liquid. Try to keep it wet for a minute or so if he will tolerate it.
