Ferret fell on hardwood. Does he need a vet if he seems okay?

Hello, sorry to hear about Max. If he is doing well now and seems to be back to normal, he may have just been startled from the fall. If he fell from a small height then perhaps you can continue to monitor him. If he fell from anything higher and you think he may be hurt, then I would definitely have him evaluated today. Monitor him and ensure he is able to walk on all four, ensure he is eating and drinking. Ensure he is able to defecate and make sure he is otherwise acting like his normal self. If so, the you may no need to have him evaluated. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks for reaching out about Chip. A limp can range from soft tissue trauma (a bruise), ligament damage to a dislocation or fracture. A veterinary visit is recommended for diagnosis, as corrections are more successful early in the process. At the minimal, pain medication might decrease healing time. Good luck.

It would be helpful to know more about what sort of trauma Joey experienced and what you’re observing with him now. Joey could have a minor concussion or headache that could resolve simply with rest and time. However, more severe head trauma can cause bleeding or swelling in the brain, which can be life threatening and must be promptly treated by a veterinarian to minimize damage. For this reason I strongly urge you to bring Joey in to the vet immediately, particularly if he is acting painful, confused, squinting or shutting his eyes, stumbling, or showing any other alarming symptoms. What a cute cat! If he is eating, drinking and using the restroom I would not be concerned. Some cats will fall far and land on their feet. At this point I would just monitor him for any sign of pain or illness. If he acts painful I would take him to a vet.

Luckily, they usually are not much worse for the wear, as long as they don't hit anything on the way down. If Rosie is walking around and acting normally (eating and drinking, not limping or squeaking), she's probably fine. If anything changes, a vet visit is in order. She should take Sno to the vet urgently, it sounds like a severe head trauma, possibly a severe concussion or even brain damage, the vet needs to assess the severity of this injury before deciding what to do next.
