My young ferret fell and is limping. Is this normal or serious?

Poor chip. It is hard to say what is causing the abnormal activity with out examining him. I would recommend taking him to a vet for a good exam to determine if he has a fracture or soft tissue injury. The vet can provide pain control which will keep him more comfortable. hope that helps

If he seems to be more lethargic/sleepier than usual, or seems to limp on any of his legs, I would have him evaluated by a veterinarian. As long as Kai is still acting normally (eating, drinking, urinating and defecating normally), not showing any signs of pain, and moving around as usual, I would not be concerned. Poor Hamish! I'm encouraged to hear that he is bearing some weight on the injured leg, as this makes a fracture seem a bit less likely. Instead, it sounds as though he may have a soft tissue (muscle, ligament, tendon) injury. Keep Hamish restricted to a crate or very small room to prevent him from running, jumping or playing over the next few days. Try to limit his activity to short leash walks strictly to eliminate. If he is still favoring the injured leg in the morning, Hamish should be examined by his vet for further evaluation and possible anti-inflammatory pain medications. Do not give any human pain medications, as none are safe for dogs. I hope that he feels better soon!

You should leave him for 30-60 minutes and do not interfere with him. If it was only a minor injury, it should get better within about 1hr. If after that time Timber is still limping or looking in pain, you will have to take him to your local vets to find out what has happened to his leg.

Chip seems to be in severe pain on that leg, it could be broken or severely injured, you need to take him to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated, he will possibly need to have an xray done on that leg.
