My chameleon fell. Why are his back legs and tail not moving?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I have a 1.5 year old male Veiled chameleon who nearly took a fall yesterday but I was able to catch him before he actually fell from any distance. For about 10 minutes after that he was extremely aggressive and wouldn't use his rear legs at all. Within an hour he started using them again but the majority of his strength and movement in his back legs seems to be gone and he won't use his tail like he usually does. He struggles to climb and move around his enclosure

Give him a day or two to fully recover. Monitor for swelling or bruising. If he doesn't regain full strength, have hm examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp veterinarian. Increase enclosure temperature to aid in healing and keep him as stress free as possible.
