My lizard fell off the couch. What injury symptoms should I check for?

You may see swelling or bruising on or around the head, uneven pupil size, lethargy, difficulty eating or ataxia (wobbly gait). Ideally, Lizzie should be physically examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet to make sure she is not injured.

Keep her warm and as stress free as possible. If she continues to have seizures, she will need to be examined by your vet, an experienced herp vet or at the nearest veterinary ER. If the lameness persists or if her foot becomes swollen or bruised, she will need to have that examined as well for fractures or soft tissue injury.

Monitor her for lethargy or difficulty walking for the next day or two. If she's moving slower or not at all, have her examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet. Gently clean the abrasions/wounds with diluted betadine or chlorhexidine solution. Keep her on slate, paper towels or reptile carpet until she heals. You don't want any substrate contaminating the wounds and introducing infection. In the future, take Wanda out of her enclosure to feed her or simply work around the hide and other furniture to avoid accidents.

Poor Charlie. Watch for limping, lethargy, and a loss of appetite. If you see any of those signs, then I would be concerned and have her seen by a vet. Based on your post, however, it does not sound like you have anything to be worried about with her. I suspect she will be ok. I hope this helps!

Just like any reptile, these guys are going to require special habitats and nutritional requirements in order to maintain their health. This will include special lighting UVB, special substrate, and supplemental heating. The main concern you should have is making sure that there are no injuries to it since your cat grab it pretty good. He may be sluggish right now just from the general shock of the entire experience, but if his demeanor doesn't start changing soon, I would look into finding a reptile vet or wildlife rehabber to obtain some advise and/or medical treatments. Hopefully he will be fine. However, limping could indicate a leg injury. Lethargy and decreased appetite could indicate internal damage/ or bleeding.
