My Amazon tree boa has white scales with red specks. Is it a wound?

Applying some topical antibiotic cream might help a little until a veterinary visit can be scheduled. Topical don't penetrate very deep so systemic antibiotics are preferred. Check underside of new water bowl for rough edges that could have caused dermal abrasions, allowing the secondary infections. Systemic illness is also possible but would expect lesions not to be limited to dorsal surface. Good luck.

It doesn't look like rot, but looks can be deceiving.It could have been caused by some trauma or a rough shed. You should never pull a shed off. Let it fall off on its own or soak/mist to make it easier to shed. Monitor the spot for redness, swelling, discharge, bleeding or if it begins to spread. You can dab it gently using a cotton swab and a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. If it doesn't improve, see your veterinarian.

In the meantime, clean and sanitize all the enclosures, bowls, hides and tank furniture. Discard anything that cannot be sanitized. Wash your hands thoroughly between handling each snake. Confirm, again if necessary, proper environmental parameters. Low temps can lead to stress which may predispose a snake to infection or illness. High humidity can foster bacterial or fungal overgrowth. Consider using paper towels as substrate until the issue is resolved. Change them daily to maintain clean conditions.
