Why does my young dog have hip pain when getting up from sitting?

Poor Jax. He may have tweak his hips or back. As long as he is eating and drinking you could try to rest him for a few days to see if he improves. If he worsens or not improving, I would see your vet for an exam and possible X-rays. Your vet may want to make sure there is nothing broken and make sure his spine looks ok. Also your vet will be able to give him some pain meds to keep him comfortable. I would not give any human pain meds as most are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps.

I would have Topaz seen by a vet if he's having problems getting up when laying down. I would be concerned that he may have a problem with his hips, spine, or joints in his legs causing these problems. Hip dysplasia is a genetic disorder that is more common in large breed dogs, but it can occur in smaller breeds. I think it would be a good idea to have x-rays done on his hips, spine, and back legs to see if there is an identifiable problem behind his difficulty getting up. It could be she has arthritis, hip dysplasia, or a problem with her back causing her difficulty getting up. Arthritis is common in middle aged to older dogs. I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose if she is suffering from arthritis, and can give her some pain meds for it. Rimadyl (an NSAID) is a good drug to give to help with the symptoms of arthritis. I also recommend giving her glucosamine or chondroitin sulfate supplements. They provide the necessary nutrients for cartilage repair and function. Use of them helps relieve some of the symptoms of arthritis, and you can use it in conjunction with Rimadyl to help maximize relief from her symptoms. I hope this helps!

It could also be due to ruptured cranial cruciate ligaments and/or meniscal damage in his knees, which are also common in large breed dogs. He is in pain if he's having these difficulties, and I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow for physical exam, lameness exam, and x-rays. These tests will help the vet identify what is causing his difficulties, and can discuss treatment options with you. If it is a problem with his cruciate ligaments or meniscus, surgery will likely be require to fix it.

Poor Lincoln! He could be suffering from a problem with his hips or his cranial cruciate ligaments in his knees. These problems are common in medium to large breed dogs. He does sound painful if he's whimpering when trying to stand up. I would have Lincoln seen by a vet in the morning for a physical exam, lameness exam, and x-rays. With these tests, the vet can diagnose what is causing his pain and can discuss treatment options with you. That may include surgery, especially if he has ruptured his cruciate ligaments. Rest him tonight, don't allow him to just on anything. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, bringing him right back in when he's done.

It could be her back or hips were painful when she got up, and that's why she squealed, but the pain stopped when she started moving around. I would keep an eye on her for now, and if she continues squealing when she gets up, I would have her checked out by a vet. Poor Ben! E definitely sounds like he could be in pain. Being this painful, it sounds like he needs to be seen. Your vet will able to localize the pain and doing X-rays if needed. They will be able to get him in meds to relieve the pain. I do not recommend giving any humans pain meds as most of them are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps!
