Why is my dog suddenly not sleeping with me anymore? Is she sick?

They are too cute! This new behavior could be just that - a behavior change. However, it is a good idea to rule out systemic illness, especially after about age 6-7 when dogs are considered "senior". If the mass on her leg has not been evaluated and aspirated by a vet yet, it would be a good time to do that. Certain types of tumors can have systemic effects or spread to other areas of the body. Hopefully, they both have a clean bill of health, and this is just a subtle behavior change. Dogs do tend to prefer to lie on the floor when it is hot in the summertime. Best of luck!

There is no way to know exactly why Mya is exhibiting this new behavior. It could be as simple as she is just too hot in the bed, or feels nervous about jumping up or down, etc. As long as she seems completely normal otherwise, and has no vomiting, diarrhea, or other medical issues going on, I would try not to worry too much about it. It could be that something in the room upset Sophie previously, and that's why she is reacting this way at bedtime. I would try to make sleeping with you fun again by offering her treats when she comes to bed with you. Try to move as slowly and quietly as possible, and if you do startle her, do not comfort her. What you are doing by comforting her is actually reinforcing the behavior and telling her it's ok for her to act this way. If she gets upset, let her calm down, and then try to tempt her back to bed with a treat.

Many dogs sleep in corners when they are anxious about something in their environment, such as during a thunderstorm or if there are fireworks going on outside. It makes them feel more secure. If this is more of a general behavior change with your dog, it may be related to age - some older dogs will have changes in their sleeping habits and sometimes in their overall sleep-wake cycle, similar to what sometimes happens in people with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

Many dogs get too hot in the night and want to sleep on the floor. Also if he's now bigger it may be crowded and he needs to stretch out. This is not a problem usually. Dogs can change where they like to sleep, and that is a normal behavior. I would not worry about it, she may choose to sleep with you again when he's out of town. Likely, Paisley is happy your husband has come home, and wants to get love from him while he is there.
