Can I wash my outdoor dog in cold weather without him getting sick?

It is ok to give Baxter baths in the winter. I'd have a heater in the bathroom to keep the room warm for when when gets out of the bath. You can also get a heated towel rack, and dry him with heated towels. I hope this helps.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Odie is super cute! If Odie is an outside dog then he needs shelter from the rain and the cold. Provide a dog house that is dry and protects from the wind, rain and snow (if you get snow). You can even look in to safe heat sources if it gets that cold in your area. I do not recommend not having shelter for outside dogs. He shouldn't get sick with proper shelter. I hope this helps and good luck!

Routine bathing is best done with an Oatmeal Dog shampoo and I like to advise an Oatmeal Shampoo that doesn't have soap or detergent in it. This way your flea and tick products that you use won't be stripped away and will actually last as long as they say. You can also use an oatmeal based coat conditioner to condition the skin and hair coat. Good luck with Ziggy. If you don't want to mess with bathing, you could always spray a nice dog cologne or pet odor spray on him and then towel dry him off. Have fun and keep walkiing.

Some dogs only need to be bathed once every 1-2 months while others do better with more frequent bathing. I generally don't recommend bathing more than once a week since it can lead to dry skin. If Suzy has a dermatologic issue your vet might recommend bathing more frequently.

Washing him when it is dry or wet does not make much of a difference other than the fact that it will take longer to remove dry mud than it will to remove wet mud. Mud will not damage his fur coat but the longer it sits in the fur the more chances of fur clumping together are likely to occur.

If you want to keep her cool then just spray her down with water or provide a baby pool for her to lie in to keep cool. I wish you and Jacky the best!

There's no reason why Pocholo can't have a bath on rainy days. Anytime time of day is fine for him to have a bath, but it's not recommended to bath a dog more than once a month unless they are very dirty. That's because bathing him too often can dry out his skin and strip out it's natural oils.
