How to keep my dog warm after winter baths? Is it safe to bathe?

Lukewarm water is best - around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If you’re asking about room temperature I’d say if it would be comfortable for you to take a shower your dog should be fine as well. Some short haired dogs can be sensitive to temperature changes and might shiver for a short time after an indoor bath - this isn’t dangerous.

It's ok to wash Spring now as long as you dry him thoroughly afterwards. You may use a hair dryer on him if it doesn't upset him too much. But if he isn't that dirty, you can wait until the weather is warmer :-)

Try smearing a dab of peanut butter on the wall of the tub or shower. As Jack licks it, you can bathe him. Don't use too much though or he may develop some stomach upset. Make sure the peanut butter does not contain xylitol. Use warm water. If it is very hot outside, you can use cooler water.

I would definitely provide a heat source for them in the winter, especially if it is going to hit freezing temperatures. I worry about hypothermia if there is no heat source. I would also provide an insulated area for them. Small dog houses can be built quite easily and still be low cost. There are many templates online of how to build a dog house with insulation. Dog beds, blankets and another dog to keep warm with would help as well. If the temperature are too low outside, it is not advisable to keep them outdoors as this could result in hypothermia and even lead to death. I hope this helps! Hello, Toby may not be allowed to get a bath due to him being too young and the potential that he could be come too cold after his bath. Other potential reasons could include that he may be a little sick from his injection and thus giving him a bath may again make him too cold and make him feel worse. If you do give him a bath, make sure its with luke warm water and that you dry him off completely after his bath. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is always best to bathe in the morning where a little sun will help to dry them. You can initially gently dry them with a soft towel, & perhaps dry them a bit with a hair dryer on very low moving the nozzle constantly. But then put them in a spot out of any breezes & let them preen themselves dry. They will appreciate this! Take care.

I'm a bit confused as to whether you are talking about a cat or a dog. The post states dog but for pet's info it says cat...... A dog that shakes while getting bathed is likely nervous or scared. It is not usually from being cold which is what most people think. Be sure to use warm water when bathing. Ignore the shivering. It is not anything to be worried about. Best wishes!
