I wash my puppy daily in hot weather. Is it safe for his skin?

No, do not bathe Jimmy daily. It will dry out her skin. Keep her indoors in the a/c or by a fan at all times, keeping her time outside brief. And make sure she always have a lot of cool water. Best of luck.

I typically recommend bathing no more than once every week or every 2 weeks unless there is a skin condition requiring frequent medicated baths. If Luna’s skin is not becoming dried out or irritated the frequency of bathing and the type of shampoo you are using is probably fine. If Luna is itchy, her skin is red or flakey, or if she has an unusual odor, she may have a skin condition. If this is the case she needs to have an examination done by your veterinarian to address her skin issues. That is hot! Chlorinated pool water can cause an over drying of the skin. A baby pool full of tap water that is safe to drink is less likely to cause dry skin and is fine for the dogs to get in. Try to provide shade, elevated beds to allow circulation and fans if possible. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

As long as Luna is doing well at home, eating and drinking well and seems overall healthy, it should be perfectly fine to give her a bath. I would use a mild puppy or dog shampoo. However, sometimes dogs with skin allergies and bathed very frequently and it actually helps them. So you may need to monitor Bear and see if frequent bathing causes any dryness or redness to his skin. There are several products on the market that are more like dry shampoo or mousse that you could brush through Bear's coat to eliminate some of the dirt and odor. If necessary you can also bathe Bear every one to two weeks, but please do it less frequently if you notice any dryness or redness of the skin related to bathing.

Hello. It looks like Zoey has mange, either demodectic or sarcoptic. It is very common to have a skin infection associated with the mites. Bathing will not hurt, but will not cure the problem. If you can find a shampoo with Chlorhexidine or Betadine, this would be best as they have antibacterial properties. If not, you can use a mild oatmeal based shampoo.
