How to train a husky puppy that ignores commands when I sit?

Having had Siberians for more than forty years, I know just what you mean about training. Many people try to train their dogs by "making" them do something and then rewarding them for it . . . such as saying "give me your paw," grabbing it and raising it, and then praising. Instead, try to catch Troy doing what you want, name the behavior, and then reward him for it. For example, if he puts his paw on your knee, say "Shake (or whatever comand you want to use), good dog!" and reward. This is a different kind of conditioning and can be very useful with stubborn, hard-to-train breeds. Having had Siberians for over 40 years, I can attest to the fact that they can be pretty determined when it comes to doing what they want. That is not to say, however, that they are untrainable. I would suggest that you stop two of your interventions right away. All dogs live in the present. They can't guess the future, nor can they remember the past. So a time out is absolutely worthless as a training tool. Further, offering a toy when a dog is misbehaving is actually offering a reward! Also, you need to be very judicious with hand-feeding, or she may dome to expect to be fed that way, and you'll have to break her of the habit. I've trained my dog off leash by taking several group obedience classes. Then you can practice with her in a contained area, with distractions and with a trainer to supervise and give pointers. It's often difficult to train this without starting in a controlled situation. Working on come in your yard and house and walking beside you on a loose leash through the streets and past other dogs is where to start. Be patient this can take quite a while to get your dog reliable off leash, especially since she is still a puppy. Huskies can be very smart and stubborn. It sounds like Nebula may be testing the waters and also potentially showing some resource guarding or play aggression. The best thing you can do for her is to take her to obedience classes. It will help with her socialization as well as getting her to listen to you. You can also hire a trainer to help you work with her. Proper training is super important at this age so that bad behavior does not become a permanent habit as an adult. Also making sure she has plenty of exercise is important. Going for regular walks, dog parks, and even agility centers are great! Just make sure she stays as cool as possible with the summer heat!

This can take some time and patience - he would much rahter be playing with you then spending time on his own! With some gentle encouragement however, including chew/food toys which keep him busy (there are many puzzle feeders you can buy or DIY models such as plastic bottles with small holes for the food to come out) and a regular routine he will learn. Puppies learn to explore with their mouth. Luckily she is young and can be trained with patience and consistency. First, make sure you have lots of treats handy. Second, have lots of toys handy. When you are playing with Luna and she starts to bite you, make a high pitched squeal. When she stops biting, tell her good girl and give her a treat or toy. When she chews on the toy, tell her shes a good girl. She will get the hang of it. For the crate, you need to get her used to it slowly. When you are home, feed her in there without closing the door. Put treats and toys in there so she can come and go when she likes. Slowly build up to closing the door for short periods. Give treats when shes calm inside the crate. Consistency is key. I would also use treats and/or a clicker to elk with training. You could also get a training to come in just a couple of times to help pin point what is keeping him from listening. It sounds like he is young and probably has a lot of energy therefore, doesn’t want to listen and sit still. You can also try a calmin chew like composure or composure pro. Keep working on training everyday. I would try to take 10-20 minutes everyday to work on commands without any distractions. Use small chewy training treats so he doesn’t get distracted by the process it takes to chew up a large crunchy treat. I hope this helps.
