Will my therapy dog bond with me and remember training in new home?

If your family takes him out regularly to do his business he won't forget it. And of course he will not forget you. He will remember your smell. You are his pack. He will never forget that. Enjoy your holiday.

Yes she will remember you but she will likely miss then when your return as she will have a new routine by then. She likely won't be more attached to your parents in that short time frame of care. But it is good she will get used to them and that environment for the future. It will make it less stressful down the road if she needs to watched again

Remember that, while you thought about this dog and bringing her into your home, all she knows is that one day she was Here, and the next day she was THERE, with no warning or explanation. She is confused and frightened. Try letting her come to you when she's ready, instead of approaching her. Don't pet her for the time being. Just be a calm and stable presence i her life. Understand, too, that dogs have no idea what a "name" is, other than a familiar word that usually has something to do with her. Yes, there are things you can do to help her adjust to her new surroundings, but this is not a "one or two sentence" answer. Dogs are very adaptable but it’s hard to keep adjusting to a new person and a new house. Dogs like stability. They want to bond with their human. They like a routine and changing households will disrupt all of that and begin the process over again. It's likely she will be but your parents should watch her very closely for the first few days. Dogs are situational learners and not all dogs realize that ALL houses should not be pottied in. I hope this helps.

The best way to ensure your puppy is bonded to you is to be the one who is the primary trainer/caregiver for her. If she isn't already signed up for a puppy class I would consider doing this with her. You can also start training at home. I highly recommend the books Perfect Puppy in 7 Days by Dr. Sophia Yin and The Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell. If you are working with her every day training her and playing with her she should maintain a good bond with you.

Unfortunately, there is no way to know exactly how long a dog truly remembers but I believe that some dogs will always recognize their previous owners. I don't think changing foster homes will affect their memory but it could increase his stress. Some dogs tolerate stress better than others but keeping him with his pals will certainly help.
