Will I get in trouble taking my unlicensed, suffering dog to the vet?

No you will not face legal trouble at all. What the vet will do is examine your girl and make recommedations for her health. They can discuss which vaccines will keep her safe and healthy, which will likely be distemper parvo and rabies. It will also likely be recommended to check for heartworms and GI parasites if she is not on a preventative. And if heartworm negative consider starting a preventative. As she is unspayed they will also likely discuss this with you and what to monitor for in the future if not spayed. You need to go to the vet right now, you will not het into trouble for the wound occurring as although it is bad, things like this can happen. Im sure no one meant for or tealised this had got so bad. However what you would get in trouble for is not getti g this treated. Now that you are aware of it you have a duty of care to get it proprely treated. Not doing so would be neglectful and an animal welfare case. Vets are not there to punish you or make you feel bad, thet will undestand that you dosnt realise this had happened, ans they will oy be interested with trying to help the dog. It will be ok but it needs antibiotics and antinflammatories.

Hi. Any veterinary clinic will see her and trim her nails even if not up to.date on vacciens. She most likely will need antibiotics and pain medications as well. If there is question on vaccines, they can update them again if that helps them. And she probly is in pain if she is limping. Good luck.

I retommend you contact your local humane societies for advice on emergency and subsidised care - there is much help available for pets in need due to financial constraints. Unfortunately with the weakness described there is a risk of complciations such as bone marrow supression which would make surgical treatment less likely to be successful and in ths case euthanasia may indeed be the kindest option for him to allow him his dignity in passing. A blood sample may help in guiding this decision as if curative treatment is not possible it is unfair to exoect him to carry such a debilitating condition for much longer

Your dog does need to go to the vet for a check up. Preventative medicine is a lot cheaper than health problems and this is a chance to stay on top of things before they get bad if needed. You will not get in trouble at all... someone will be glad to help you get caught up in vaccines and go over things to monitor for as he gets older

Hi there, it was very nice of you to find this dog and take care of him overnight. I would recommend to call any local emergency veterinary hospital in your area or the local humane society/rescue organizations and let them know you have an injured dog that needs medical attention. Veterinarians can provide care to relieve pain and suffering at no charge. It is our duty as veterinarians to do so for animals. If you are considering keeping him as your pet he needs immediate medical attention as well. He is injured, needs evaluation, and needs medications for his parasites and pain. Best of luck.

I would recommend just being forth right with the veterinarian about your dog's history and your desire to get him in a healthy state. At the time of the appointment the veterinarian can discuss any neglect concerns with you.
