Dog has deep infected wound, dad won't go to vet. Can I treat at home?

Quite frankly, take him to the vet. They can properly assess the damage done, treat the wound and prescribe antibiotics to treat infection. A wound may not look deep from the surface, but it can be hard to tell how much damage is beneath the surface.

It would take a very long time to heal if the wound was treated with antibiotics only. The symptoms of infection usually develops in the first 24hrs and include fever, discharge, swelling and pain around the wound.

This is a medical emergency and your dog has to see a vet tonight if he's still bleeding and in a lot of pain. He likely needs stitches to close up his wound, and there is nothing safe you can give him at home for his pain. Many human pain medications are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. This wound can become severely infected if left untreated, and he will still be in a lot of pain. I would let your mother know you spoke to a veterinarian who told you that he has to see a vet now. Your mom can check to see if there is an ER vet clinic in your area; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. I'm sorry this happened but you must understand this is a very serious wound and should be treated by your local veterinarian. She should be on oral antibiotics. No matter is what is applied to this topically, it will not heal if she continues to chew at it. While there are certainly things you can do at home, the would appears to be badly infected and may become significantly worse without medications. I would definitely encourage you to obtain your dog's temperature at home to check for a fever. Anything above 102.5 is considered elevated. It also appears that the edges of the wound are somewhat blackened and may require trimming in order to heal appropriately. The only things you are going to be able to do at home is to clean the area with an antiseptic like chlorhexidine or dilute betadine, and apply a topical antibiotic ointment.
