How do I stop my puppy from pooping every time she's in the car?

Fasting her is an option, but that may lead to carsickness and vomiting. She may be defecating in the carrier due to stress. Try to acclimate her to the crate and travel by taking her on frequent trips. Gradually increase the length of travel as she acclimates. Pheromone products such as Feliway spray may decrease any travel related anxiety.

Since she’s young I don’t recommend any medication. I would go sit with her in the car several times a day, without turning it on. When she gets used to that then sit with her with the car running. When she’s used to that take her for a one or two minute ride only. Gradually she will get used to the movement and get over both the anxiety and car sickness that some dogs get. For small dogs I recommend a booster car seat so they can see out but are secured with a harness to prevent excess movement during the ride. That is something that she should outgrow. The best thing is to take her outside frequently so she learns to eliminate outside and then pick up the feces after she goes. If she is eliminating in her crate then she probably needs to go out more often.

It sounds like Eli isn't fully potty trained yet. I recommend using the basics. 1) have a set daily schedule. As soon as you wake up take her out, as soon as she's done eating, as soon as she's done playing, and before she goes to bed. 2) meal feeding- this helps determine when she needs to potty. What goes in will push the stool out usually within 15-30 minutes. 3) Use a lot of praise when Eli goes potty outside. Lastly, I recommend making the space within her crate smaller, either by buying a smaller crate or blocking off the back end so she only has enough space to stand up and turn around. The best thing would be to never let him out of your sight when inside so he does't have the opportunity to go in the kitchen alone. If you can't watch him then he should be in a crate while inside the house. When he goes outside, give him a treat with a lot of praise. With time, he will master potty training.

it is likely caused by the excitement of the drive, going somewhere and meeting lots of new things and people. It is not a big concern that his poop is a bit soft. It should get back to its usual quality within a day or two.
