My Shih Tzu puppy won't eat and is sleeping a lot. Is she sick?

She sounds pretty sick, and I'm concerned she isn't eating or drinking, having diarrhea, and has now vomited. If she isn't fully vaccinated, parvo could be causing her symptoms. She can have a few different things going on. She can have a urinary tract infection or she may have an upset stomach from eating human food. It's good that Bella isn't having diarrhea, and a light yellow color is the normal color of urine. It could be that she simply isn't feeling well today, or she could have played a lot yesterday and is very tired at the moment. I would monitor her for now. and make sure she is still eating, drinking, and going potty normally. Should she still be lethargic after 48 hours, then I would take her into the vet.

If Bella ate dinner last night and again at midnight, it is possible that she is not hungry. However, if she continues to not eat through the remainder of the the day, I would recommend you take her to the veterinarian because this could be a sign of illness. If you notice any lethargy, vomiting or diarrhea, you should take her to the veterinarian right away.

She may either be going through a growth spurt, or she may have low glucose. If she isn't eating at least 3/4th of her normal diet, then I would be concerned about possible low glucose or another neurological condition. You can also offer her some karo syrup (only about 1 tsp) on her gums if her energy seems really low, once every 6 hrs until you can get her in the vet to be seen. I think if she is sleepy a lot and that is abnormal and it has been 2 days that she should see a Veterinarian for a physical exam. Causes of not eating are:intestinal parasites, foreign body ingestion, viral infections, toxin ingestion or other more regional diseases. I wouldn't want her to go much longer without eating.
