My senior dog has a pink, lumpy growth on his neck. Is it serious?

This could be a benign skin mass like a wart or a lipoma or could be something more serious like a mast cell tumor. My best recommendation is to take Mara to the veterinarian so a fine needle aspirate and cytology can be performed. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. Hi and thank you for posting your question! From the picture, it looks like a skin tag which can grow over time and become larger. Usually these are not anything to worry too much about, although if it starts to become larger, red, swollen, or infected, you may want to have your veterinarian take a closer look. You can always have the mass aspirated and a sample sample taken from it to see if it is anything concerning. That is the only way to really definitively diagnosis any mass. Hello. These look to be very typical warts. Just keep an eye on them to make sure they do not start enlarging. Generally, the only time we worry about warts is if a pet begins to chew on them causing bleeding. Otherwise, it is just a sign of aging & there is no need to really worry about them. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As dogs age, they can develop wart-like growths known as adenomas which are benign (non-cancerous) growths. These can be monitored, but if they start bleeding, become infected or she starts scratching at them they can need to be removed. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian to determine if these are benign wart-like growths, or if they are something more concerning (such as a mast cell tumor). Good luck!

Those appear to be sebaceous adenomas. These are common, wary like growths, that occur as dogs age. They are typically not cancerous but can cause a problem if they get scratched or cut. If there are several it may be best to consult with your vet about removal
