My senior dog's bleeding wart: Is my Neosporin first aid enough?

You can clean it with soap and water and apply Neosporin to help with the bleeding and discharge. There are no other options at home. Your vet can examine it and discussed surgery options to remove it so you do not have to worry about further episodes of scratching or bleeding. I would recommend this is able since it is growing

You can continue disinfection at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily for the next 4 days. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. It is best not bandage as the healing will be much quicker. If the lesion do not resolve in 4 days time a check up will be needed as antibiotics may be required. I would not advise the use of neosporin or any other topical ointment as it is a bit deep and those are not indicated in internal tissue. It is very common for older, small breed dogs to get these benign warts. I usually only recommend removal if they are causing issues (like this one). If you can't get it to heal you may have to have it surgically removed. I suggest you order this wound spray to put on it. Use as directed. If no improvement, have your vet check it out. Poor guy. I can understand your concern here. Apply firm pressure periodically with a clean sterile gauze from your local pharmacy as you cleanse the area antiseptically with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water or Chlorhexidine solution 3% diluted into a light blue mixture. This should be done for the first day to help prevent infection. And don’t allow your pet to roll around in the dirt or receive any baths of any kind until it is healed. After the first day you can continue to flush the area with sterile saline from your local pharmacy/drug store and this should help it heal well. It’s also a good idea to place an e-collar on his head to prevent Stevie from scratching the area. If things start to look like they are getting infected (yellow or pinkish foul smelling discharge), or if it doesn’t heal well within 4-7 days, then it’s best to have him seen by your vet. Sutures or staples may need to be placed to close the wound, antibiotics and pet friendly anti-inflammatory medication will likely be prescribed. I think applying a triple antibiotic like Neosporin twice daily for 7-10 days would be a good idea. This may make Zelda to be itchy. For this reason, if you notice her scratching at her head, use an e-collar to prevent self-trauma as that may delay healing. Otherwise, this should heal well shortly. Good luck and have a great day!

Without seeing how it looks i can't really tell you if she needs treatment or not but if no bleeding occur a local antibiotic cream 2-3 times a day for a few days is likely to be enough as far as treatment goes.
