Is it safe to combine Capstar and Nexgard for my dog's flea treatment?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Not 100% sure what you mean by an Advantix flea bath. Advantix is a topical flea treatment applied on the skin of dogs. Yes you can use Nexgard along with Advantix. Great multimodal flea/tick strategy. After you have used both oral and topical treatments together for 3 months or so, any environmental problem inside the home should be addressed. That gives enough time for most if not all of the immature stages to mature and be killed by the products. After that time period, you may be able to drop back down to one product each month. Good morning! Capstar is generally thought to be effective for 24-48 hours, so I don't think you need to give another Capstar if you gave one last night. The nexgaurd should not interact negatively with the spot-on product or bath because they work differently. If you are having difficulty with fleas in your pets then you may also need to treat your home and possibly your yard. Vacuum all floors (including wood floors) and furniture and throw the contents in the trash outside, wash all pet pedding in hot water if possible and put in hot dryer. You can use both products on the same day so it is fine to start the Advantix at any time. There are better products that Advantix. Top products for dogs are oral products such as Simparica and Nexgard. Top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. Hello and thank you for your post! This combination will not likely cause any side effects. Ideally only one should be given at a time but not nexgard and frontline together should be ok. I would, however, monitor your dog for any symptoms such as tremors, seizures, excessive salivation, lethargy and get your dog seen as soon as possible by an emergency vet for treatment. Yes, both products are safe to use together. In addition to the pesticide that was sprayed, the yard also needs to be treated. You should also vacuum daily. The vibrations attract the fleas. Then discard the vacuum bag each day so the fleas don't crawl back out. You will have to do this for a month or so as every day there will be thousands of fleas that hatch from the eggs. Make sure to also vacuum under couches, beds, etc as the fleas like to take cover when they are breeding and laying eggs.

Yes, they do cover the same things, the only difference is a nexgardnwill last for 1 month and a bravecto will last for 3 months. They have different ingredients and a wide safety margin so you will unlikely notice any changes.
