My 7-week-old puppy smells bad. Is it safe to give him a bath?

I typically on bathe dogs that young if they got dirty or when people first adopt their dogs since they sometimes can have a smell to them. I would make sure that Gypsy is 100% dry prior to bringing her outside if you bathe her. I would also make sure you use a puppy shampoo so you don't dry out her skin. There really isn't anything you can give for puppy breath. What you can do (which may help) is start brushing Gypsy's teeth with a dog toothpaste and a toothbrush. Hello there! Yes you can give your young puppies a bath. I would recommend using a gentle puppy shampoo and take extra precautions, even thought it is summer time, to make sure they stay warm. Just dry them off well and keep them close by so you can monitor them after the bath. Do not submerge them in water and I wouldn't recommend getting their heads and faces fully wet. You do not need to use shampoo. Poop is water soluble and will wash off just with luke warm water. If you want to get rid of any residual smell, wash off the poop with water first and then take a very small amount of doggie or baby shampoo , spread it on your hands and then rub it on your puppy and immediately rinse the puppy.. This should work. Only wash your puppy when it is soiled with poop or similar horrible things. No need to wash it regularly.

I typically recommend bathing no more than once every week or every 2 weeks unless there is a skin condition requiring frequent medicated baths. If Luna’s skin is not becoming dried out or irritated the frequency of bathing and the type of shampoo you are using is probably fine. If Luna is itchy, her skin is red or flakey, or if she has an unusual odor, she may have a skin condition. If this is the case she needs to have an examination done by your veterinarian to address her skin issues. As long as Luna is doing well at home, eating and drinking well and seems overall healthy, it should be perfectly fine to give her a bath. I would use a mild puppy or dog shampoo. Yes you can bathe your pets using a puppy shampoo only. They can regulate their body temperature by week 2. And you should start vaccinating them when they are 6-8 weeks of age, but typically we start at 8 weeks. Aw Snoopy is adorable! Yes you can bathe him but I would use something very gentle like a puppy shampoo. I do not recommend using a flea shampoo as these can sometimes be too strong for puppies. You can bathe him every 2-3 weeks unless he gets really muddy/stinky and needs a bath otherwise. I hope this helps!
