Why do my sable German Shepherd puppies have white markings?

Thanks for visiting Petcoach. This breed often can have white or tannish colors throughout the coat. There are also some German Shephards who are purely white. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Coat color genetics is complicated and isn’t straight forward. The fact you got 2 black puppies when mating 2 white Pomeranians means somewhere in the lines of either one or both parents had black coated relatives. What you see isn’t always what you get with genes. That’s why 2 brown eyed people sometimes have a blue eyed baby. I hope this helps!

Hi there. It's always difficult to tell from looking at puppies, what they will look like as adults - so I can't say for certain whether they're purebred or not based on this. But, yes - these are within the range of typical colors for GSDs, and they look like they certainly could be purebred.

Black nails tend to be more common with GSD but if they have white or lighter colored hair on the foot often times the nails will be light as well. Yes, it is possible Mocha's mother could have had some German Shepherd in her genes. It is also possible that the father was a German Shepherd if you did not actually see him. Yes, this can affect Hazel having all GSD puppies. Because female dogs release multiple eggs when in heat, if they mate with multiple males, there is the possibly that the puppies will have different fathers. Since she had mated with another male, it’s likely her puppies won’t all be GSD. I hope this helps.
