My 50-day-old Rottweiler puppy is vomiting and not eating. What to do?

Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. If he is not eating his dog food I would offer some chicken and rice and see if he is at all interested in eating that. If not, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian. With his age, he is at risk for contracting viral infections such as distemper and parvo virus. I would have him tested for Parvo virus if he continues to decline and also test his blood to see if there are any abnormalities. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Poor Diesel. He sounds pretty sick, and I'm quite concerned that he's lost a lot of weight. At this point in time, I think he needs veterinary attention now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. She could have ate something that has upset her stomach, she could have intestinal parasites or a more serious viral infection (vaccines are designed to prevent these). Her veterinarian will likely start with fecal testing and decide on a treatment plan from there. It is easy for puppies to become dehydrated. The veterinarian will examine him and determine if he is perhaps experiencing orthopedic pain or an internal issues. Testing such as blood work or x-rays may be warranted. Based on these results, treatment can be started to help him feel better. In the meantime, help him when he needs to move. You can use a towel under his hips as a sling to him get up and to walk. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

You must take her back to the vet urgently, they will need to perform a blood test and ultrasound in order to find out the cause of the anorexia, without knowing what is causing this , it's not possible to treat it.

Diarrhea for 48 hours in a 8 week old puppy is a concern, as puppies get dehydrated much more quickly than adult dogs, and don't have the same back-up mechanisms to protect blood pressure that adult dogs do. I recommend you take Mato to a vet. They will check for parvo-virus, parasites, and other conditions. They will also likely discuss IV fluids, or SQ fluids, and might get you a medication based on the diarrhea, such as a dewormer or a gut protectant. Best of luck with Mato!

It seems as Rosy is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking Rosi to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
