Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My name is Patricia..Our three weeks old puppy has a yellowish skin and pee. She is also not drinking her mother's breastfeed milk.. she's a bit skinny compare to her brother. Why is that? Is she having a health problem? Please doc.. help us.

Yellow colored skin can be concerning and is usually caused by a destruction of red blood cells or a liver issue. Since the puppy is not nursing wel I would recommend supplementing her with a puppy milk replacer to ensure she is getting enough nutrients. I would also recommend taking her in to be examined by a veterinarian to ensure nothing too serious is going on.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck!
