Why is my dog always thirsty, hungry, and has yellow poop lately?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Urine is normally yellow or straw colored. The not eating is a little concerning and I would recommend a vet visit soon for your dog. Causes of decreased appetite in dogs may be due to a tooth issue, pancreatitis, gastritis, or perhaps an infectious cause. A veterinary visit can be rule out some of the above causes and will help pinpoint a diagnosis so he can get treated appropriately. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

Based on your description, it is difficult to say for sure what the primary problem is as there are many causes of these symptoms. I do worry about him becoming dehydrated from the diarrhea. If this is a persistent problem and he is losing weight, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would have x-rays taken of her abdomen and chest to start. With the sudden weight gain, I am concerned that maybe what you are seeing is something going in inside the abdomen such as a hemorrhage or bloat. It would be best to have her seen by a vet sooner rather than later in case this becomes more serious. I hope this helps! Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, foreign body, food allergy/intolerance, new food/treat.human food, intestinal disease (inflammatory bowel disease) or pancreatic disease. I am in agreement with you about your dog. German Shepherds, at least in the US have a lot of intestinal and pancreatic disease, specifically Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). Sometimes they have both conditions. Symptoms of IBD are weight loss with or with out vomiting or diarrhea. Signs of EPI are weight loss and diarrhea. I recommend deworming him 3 weeks apart with Drontal plus to cover parasites: https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=1459 Then I would start him on a prescription hydrolyzed diet, you will need a prescription from a Vet. However, if this does not resolve or progresses to watery diarrhea, a veterinary evaluation should be pursued. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Pepper evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. A change in pooping habits with no change in diet, and with a history of eating grass, suggests that Kilo has an upset stomach. This can be caused by many factors including worms, a foreign object (ball, underwear, socks) that is bouncing around in his stomach, allergies to the food you are feeding, or problems with his guts including irritable bowel disease, pancreatic insufficiency, or other causes. I would recommend with starting with a dewormer, you can pick this up at your vet. If this doesn't work I would suggest bringing Kilo to the vet to have the feces tested and an exam of Kilo performed. Best of luck with Kilo.

This is a quite generic but concerning sign. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection. Urine could be more concentrated than normal (given the inappetence and the diarrhoea causing mild dehydration). The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food (a bland diet would be best- boiled chicken and rice). A check up is needed if inappetence last for more than 24hours.
