Is yellow puppy poop normal on a bland turkey and rice diet?

His poop is bright yellow b/c of his current diet (just rice and cottage cheese). He should have some protein in there, so I would suggest adding chicken or ground turkey. Also as long as he is not straining to poop, there is no cause for concern for the fewer stools, especially since he isn't eating anything with much substance. As long as he is acting normal, there is no major cause for concern here. Slowly transition him back to his normal diet once your vet says he is good to do so, and his stools should return to normal. Hi and thanks for your request. This may be still due to partial gastrointestinal upset, meaning that the gastrointestinal system is still recovering. I would recommend to continue to feed Milo with this diet until feces are not back to normal colour and consistency. If the signs last more than a week time a check up at your local vet will be required.

Hello, thank you for your question about Romeo. It is possible that the color change could be secondary to one of the medications as these can often lead to change after digestion in the GI tract. If the diarrhea continues in spite of these treatments I would recommend having Romeo rechecked by your veterinarian so that they can consider adding additional medications such as an antibiotic/anti-diarrheal such as metronidazole. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Feeding BARF diet is not recommended and can be the cause of the diarrhea and yellow poop that you are seeing. Any raw food, or bones of any kind (cooked or raw) put the GI tract at danger for a nasty infection (just like you or I eating raw food, there is bacteria that can cause food poisoning). Bones have the potential to cause obstructions, perforations, bone-hardened constipation, and severe gastritis and pancreatitis. Especially in a puppy that is only 4 months old, as their immune systems are not fully developed. I would recommend feeding a high quality puppy food. If you would like to home cook that is great, and a combination of meat and vegetables (onions, garlic, grapes and raisins are toxic) is fine, just cook the meat as you would for yourself. If you wouldn't feed it raw, then it isn't good for your domesticated pet raw either. Adding as much oil and other 'stuff' to his food as well could be too hard on his system, as oil is fatty and dogs don't tolerate the amount of fat that we eat in our diets. Pumpkin is very good for teeth (raw pumpkin) and cooked it is a good source of fibre. Best of luck with Marvel!

That is not a problem but could be an early sign of diarrhoea. As a first approach I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hello. A dark discoloration of urine is a common finding when patients are on Metronidazole. The stool discoloration is most certainly due to a change in diet. The urine will return to normal once the antibiotics are finished & his stools should normalize once his GI tract gets used to the new food. I do hope Marshall is beginning to feel better. A change in food can sometimes cause the stool to change color slightly or become loser, however you did mention it was the same food, just a new bag. Checking to see if there were any ingredient changes between bags may alert you to a cause. A bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may also help with any minor GI upset while transitioning food. Other issues can include GI upset, parasites, illness, food allergies, etc, so if the problem does not resolve bringing in Joey along with a stool sample to your vet can help rule out some of these other issues and narrow down the cause.
