Why is my dog's poop yellow after a new bag of his usual food?

I can see that some of this stool looks a little yellow and that there might be some foreign material, but otherwise it looks formed and I don't see anything concerning like blood or mucous. As long as Bo isn't straining to defecate, vomiting or not eating as well I wouldn't be concerned about his stool. The makeup probably isn't to blame since I would expect you to see changes a day or two after it was ingested, not a week later.

I wouldn’t be worried about the color of kiwi s stool at all. The color can vary significantly, especially when new foods and treats are added. If she starts straining while having a bowel movement, or if she develops a poor appetite, diarrhea or weight loss then I would have her evaluated by her veterinarian. I love her name!! Did anyone feed him anything other than his puppy food? If so he may have an upset stomach. He can also have one if he has intestinal parasites or a virus. Thank you for your questions about Koda. I would not say that is normal and I suspect it may be a sign that he does not tolerate the new diet as well. The jury is still out on grain free food, some pets do well on it and other ones develop heart conditions and constipation issues. Most vets generally do not recommend them. I do advise changing the diet again. If you are looking for a nice food, I recommend a brand called Royal Canin. It is generally very easy to digest and most pets who eat this diet have nice coats, good stool quality and low stool quantity (a sign that the diet does not contain many fillers). Change the diet slowly over about a weeks time. If the diarrhea continues, have the stool checked for parasites as this can also cause changes to the stool. I hope you found this helpful. Hi there and thanks for posting! Sometimes stool can change due to a recent change in diet or eating something out of the ordinary or unusual. Other causes can be certain infections such as viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections. Endocrine diseases such as Addison's disease or organ disease of the liver, gallbladder, or pancreas can also cause the color of stool to change. If the color changes continue, you may consider taking Luna in to be seen be her veterinarian to just sure there are no underlying conditions causing the changes.

His poop is bright yellow b/c of his current diet (just rice and cottage cheese). He should have some protein in there, so I would suggest adding chicken or ground turkey. Also as long as he is not straining to poop, there is no cause for concern for the fewer stools, especially since he isn't eating anything with much substance. As long as he is acting normal, there is no major cause for concern here. Slowly transition him back to his normal diet once your vet says he is good to do so, and his stools should return to normal. Based on the fact that Teddy is acting normal, there may not be anything serious going on. I would recommend to have his stool checked for parasites including Giardia. These are easy tests and would account for the change in his stool character. If these tests are negative, you may choose to do nothing else except monitor him. Some parasites can be spread to people so it is worthwhile to have it checked out. I hope this answers your question!
