Is my yard safe from parvo for my new puppy after his first shots?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 11 days old | 6 lbs

I just got a 6wk old rot puppy. How do I know if my yard has parvo? I have never had a dog for the back yard. I just gave him his first set of shots today.

It is impossible to know for sure if you have parvo in your yard. If you know for certain that your yard has never had another dog in it, Taz is likely fine to be in the yard. However, if you don't know for sure, I would limit the amount of exploring Taz does in the backyard to play it safe until 1 week after his final vaccination. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
