My 5-month-old puppy is vomiting a lot. When should I see a vet?

Chronic vomiting is definitely cause for concern. It can be an indication of an obstruction, an inflamed intestinal tract, or dietary indiscretion. I recommend not giving Thor any food over night, and having him seen by a vet tomorrow morning. If Thor becomes lethargic at any point or unresponsive, he should be seen by a vet immediately. It is a vaccination reaction if they are excessively vomiting. So if he vomited once or twice I just have people watch them. Yes I recommend to have your puppy examined today. Eight times is a lot of times to vomit. It's possible your puppy has picked up something from the lake but it's also possible there could be other causes like giardia or even something like parvo (your puppy is not yet old enough to be fully protected from vaccines). It sounds as Snowball is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

The answer depends on how often Prince is vomiting. All dogs vomit at times in their lives, but it's not normal if he is vomiting on a weekly or monthly basis. Should he be vomiting that frequently, then yes I would think it's necessary for him to see a vet. He could be suffering from a medical problem causing the vomiting, such as irritable bowel disease. Any pet vomiting beyond 24 hours should be examined by the veterinarian. Any pet who is vomiting more than twice in a day or not holding down water also needs to be examined by the veterinarian.
