Puppy threw up 8 times after lake trip. Should I take him to vet?

It sounds as Snowball is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Poor Thor! Seven times in an hour is rather concerning. I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to be sure he hasn't eaten something that has or possibly could get stuck. If they don't find anything he could also benefit from some fluids and maybe something to control the vomiting if he continues to vomit. Hope this helps and Thor feels better soon.

I would recommend that Bentley get checked out by the vet. There are lots of things in lake water that could cause illness, such as bacteria, algae, and parasites. The vet may want to check blood work or a stool sample to determine the best treatment.

Congrats on your nephew's new puppy, but I'm sorry that Mia is sick! While puppies can have reactions to deworming treatments such as vomiting, dewormers are typically very safe. An allergic reaction to a deworming medication would be very rare. In addition, it should not still be sick from the deworming treatment days afterwards. To me, that suggests there could be something more wrong with her. Given her age, she won't be fully vaccinated, and one of the diseases I would be most concerned about is parvovirus. This is a very deadly disease of unvaccinated dogs, and it's extremely contagious. This causes vomiting, and dehydration from this vomiting will occur especially if she can't keep down water. Dehydration is the number one cause of death in these puppies. Because I can't see her in person to rule out parvovirus or another cause of the vomiting such as a GI illness, eating something rotten, or a foreign body, I do think having her seen by a vet now is for the best. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. What I can tell you is that in puppies the most common reasons for it are related to diet and to gastrointestinal infections/parasite infestations. Chronic vomiting is dangerous because it can lead to dehydration and severe secondary complications in puppies. Make sure your new gsd is regularly vaccinated and dewormed.

The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Luna reevaluated since she has not improved to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings.
