Good job on thinking to booster her vaccinations. Her last vaccination needs to be given when she is a minimum of 16 weeks old (4 months) and a minimum of 2 vaccinations. Which based on your timeline I assume Has occurred but you should verify the dates you vaccinated. Also, I am unclear if she was ever vaccinated for rabies virus. This is very important and can only be administered by a veterinarian. You may also want to consider vaccinating for bordetella and possibly canine influenza if your state has had any outbreaks. No, five weeks is too young for vaccines. She has to be at least six weeks of age before getting her first vaccine, and even then, it still won't be safe for her to go outside and run around unless she is in a confined yard where no other dogs have access to it.

When you are discussing vaccinations I am assuming you are referring to the distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza combination vaccine (DAPP). If Theodore is only about 6 weeks old he will need at least 3-4 more DAPP vaccines spaced approximately one month apart to be fully protected against distemper. Because Theodore will be at risk until he receives all of his distemper booster shots it is best to minimize his risk by not taking him to places where sick dogs may have been. So avoiding dog parks, pet stores, and kennels is a good idea. I would recommend starting veterinary visits for Theodore around 8 weeks of age so he can be examined and another DAPP vaccine can be given. Please remember to bring a fecal sample with you to the vet visit so he can be checked for intestinal parasites. For his own safety and the safety of other dogs, it would be best to wait until he has received his complete first year round of vaccines including the second parvovirus vaccine which usually is given at around 4-5 months of age though that depends on when they received the first set of vaccines. The ideal vaccination series should have 2 combination vaccines given after 12 weeks with the final vaccine between 16-20 vaccines. I would also recommend having these vaccines given by a veterinarian or at least purchased from a veterinarian. Vaccines from a feed store can be mis-handled and therefore not be active when given. This would leave Violet susceptible to contagious and possibly fatal diseases.

Unfortunately, Maximus is not fully vaccinated at this point, so he should not be going outside. Depending on your state, he can be fully vaccinated by 12 or 16 weeks. If this was his first round of shots, he will need a booster in 2-4 weeks and then his Rabies vaccine at 12-16 weeks as well as his last booster. Maximus should have minimal contact with other dogs (even where other dogs have gone to the bathroom) as you can’t be sure they are not carrying any of the viruses that Maximus is not vaccinated for that can make him very sick. I know it is difficult to keep a large active puppy inside, but your vet can work with you to have Maximus fully vaccinated in a reasonable amount of time.

Congratulations on your new puppy! Red can interact with other dogs when he has had all of core vaccines which include rabies, bordetella (kennel cough) and a combination distemper vaccine. His rabies vaccine can be given after he is 12 weeks old and he should receive at least three distemper vaccines (usually given at 6, 9, and 12 weeks).
