Puppy threw up, stomach noisy. Is this normal? What can I give him?

If Jordy continues to vomit, starts dry heaving, or is extremely lethargic, I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic tonight or first thing in the morning. If he is normal the rest of the night, give him a half his normal breakfast and monitor for more vomiting. If he does continue to vomit, he'll need to go to vet. Common causes of vomiting in puppies include foreign bodies, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, some metabolic disorders, and mild gastroenteritis if unknown origin. If he does end up needing to go to the vet, they will likely take some x-rays and maybe do a baseline blood work, and then treat him symptomatically if they are do not find a specific. Marley is probably suffering from gastritis and an over distention of his stomach from eating some much food all at once. The stomach lining is probably very irritated and is making him vomit up anything else he eats or drinks. I would recommend withholding food for about 12 to 24 hours. If he does not vomit during that time then you can start to re-introduce a bland diet, like plain boiled chicken and rice, and see if he can keep that down. If he is not able to stop vomiting, becomes lethargic, or has diarrhea you will need to take him to the vet to be examined. Small puppies like this can get dehydrated rapidly and he may need fluids support and medication to help stop the vomiting. I hope this helps. I am very sorry to hear that Tye is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. I would believe the most likely cause in a lung dog like Tye is gastrointestinal worms or a gastrointestinal infection. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few days I would continue to monitor Tye at home. Here is what you can do for him over the next 24 hours; Rest Tye’s gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. This will tempt him to eat while also being healthy for gut recovery. You can also purchase Hill’s I/D from a veterinarian, which is a premade food which will have the same effect. I also find that boiled, mashed skinless sweet potato is helpful for diarrhoea if he is experiencing any of that. In the longer term I would also advise switching his dog food brand, in case he is not doing well because of his current food. Hello. If Bromley is sleeping well, then it is probably not an emergency. If he were to start breathing very heavily, retching, pacing, drooling or acting at all painful, then you do need to have him looked at. But upset stomachs do occur in dogs. He may vomit, or have a day or two of diarrhea, but as long as he is eating, drinking & seems fairly normal & active, these things are pretty much self-limiting. If Bromley, however, seems at all unwell, or you are really concerned, it never hurts to have things checked out as soon as possible. An upset stomach is a common problem with puppies and is usually self-limiting (will go away on its own). It may not be serious right now, but it's always possible that it could be the start of something serious. If Jack has any of the following, then he should see a vet: 1) Blood in diarrhea 2) Very watery diarrhea 3) Starts acting very depressed 4) Stops eating or drinking for longer than 24 hours. 5) Diarrhea lasts longer than three days. You can try feeding bland food (boneless chicken and rice is good). Feed small portions (1/4 cup or less) three times a day. Ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Since last night was Halloween, think about if there's anything she could have eaten that she shouldn't have and take her to the vet ASAP if you realize your chocolate stash or your entire pan of bacon wrapped something or anothers from the potluck is missing. If you can't think of anything she ate, it's generally ok to wait 24 hours to see if she get back on her food naturally. Sometimes something goes wrong in the gut and we don't know why but it resolves quickly. If she's not back to normal in 24 hours, or has any vomiting or diarrhea in the mean time, she needs to go to her vet for evaluation and supportive care.
