My puppy is teething. What foods are safe or helpful to feed her?

I would recommend giving her only dog specific treats, no bones (cooked or uncooked), or rawhides. There's a wide variety of dog treats available, but I personally like dental treats, such as Greenies or Denta Chews. Do not give her any human foods, as many are toxic to dogs. Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. I assure you that Asher is getting enough nutrition. This is normal teething behavior and all puppies go through it. Dogs have to be emaciated/starved in order to be truly deficient nutritionally. I would not worry about it. Usually puppies do like harder things to chew on when teething. Do you have any dry food out for him? If not, I suggest you do that. You can also get him some teething toys to help. I wouldn't use a raw hide for him to chew on. I personally dislike them because of the big risk of choking and obstruction. There are toys you can get from the pet store that you can freeze and then give to him to chew on. The cold would be very soothing to his gums. Until you can get to the pet store, soak a wash cloth in water and put it in the freezer to freeze. You can give that to him to chew on, but monitor him the entire time to make sure he doesn't rip or swallow any piece of the wash cloth. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that, what an ordeal for both of you! He is listed as 2 months and 25 days old. If that is accurate, or even if he's less than 6 months old, the "baby" tooth was likely loose, and the adult canine tooth will come in around 5-7 months of age. If he seems painful in his mouth, offer him canned or other soft food for a few days. You can also give him a cold teething toy such as a Kong that you keep in the freezer, Or let him chew on a frozen waffle or even on some ice. The cool will help soothe his mouth if it is sore. Sweet picture! I would not worry about giving vegetable if you feed a good commercial puppy diet. For chewing purposes, a small Kong toy with frozen peanut butter may do the trick. If you want to give treats that are veggies, try frozen green beans. I hope Toffe will be a great companion!

Teething can be painful for puppies, so I would try softening his dry food with warm water, or you can add gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth to the dry food to make it softer for him to eat. There are also chew toys you can get for Kiba from the pet store that can be frozen in the freezer, which will help soothe his mouth.
